Director Biography:

I was born in 1968 in Rome and I’ve always loved animation in all its forms. I started with desktop publishing doing graphic design and photo retouching. In 1993, I moved into to the multimedia sector and eventually became Art Director in a company specialized in both off and on-line multimedia communication and training products.

Since 1992 I quit multimedia to return to animation. I took part in the development and making of various TV commercials for consumer products and shorts, last of which, Looo (2004) under direct supervision of Bruno Bozzetto. As animator, I have also created the web short “Il Branco (The Tribe)” with two other friends which won the Internet award at the Annecy Film Festival 2004, the first prize at the Turin Flash Festival 2003 and the first award at the Rimini Flash Festival 2003. I am currently working as a freelance graphic designer and character animator including frequent collaborations with Italian production

Director Statement:

The short film relates my personal experience with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, diagnosed in August 2010, culminating in a bone marrow transplant three months later. The story is constructed through alternating metaphorical narration, represented by battle scenes, a few dreamlike moments, and a real, more or less chronological narrative of the journey leading up to the transplant.
